TruHD – CPR Compliant

What is CPR?
The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) has been around for many years. CPR covers the fire performance and other aspects of various products used in construction.
The idea is that people involved in the design and construction of buildings will be able to make more informed decisions about the potential spread of fire of the products they choose. Cables are the latest products to be regulated this way.

When will CPR become law?
CPR becomes a legal requirement from 1st July, 2017 and at FS we have been making considerable progress to ensure we are very well prepared. From this July onward, you can request a Declaration of Performance (DoP) for CPR compliant cables, which shows critical information about the cable such as manufacturer’s name, product type class met.

Who will be affected?
Anyone who is involved in the selection and installation of cable will be affected by regulation changes on 1st July 2017. Suppliers (manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors) will have to declare the fire performance of a cable designed for use in buildings. This will be graded from class A to F.

TruHD range is now CPR compliant.
The entire TruHD range of HDBaseT cables has been tested and are now compliant with the CPR law. Classified to Eca, these CPR compliant cables include HDBaseT Cat 5E, Cat 6 and Cat 6A. Available in either PVC or LSZH in an array of different colours for easy identification, the TruHD range of Cat 5E, Cat 6 and Cat 6A cables are also tested and approved by the HDBaseT Alliance. The HDBaseT standard allows for distribution of HD video, 2K and 4K uncompressed video, audio, 100BaseT Ethernet, PoE and control all across a single cable.

With less than 4 months until CPR becomes a legal requirement, now is a great time for anyone involved in installing, specifying or selecting cable for use as permanent wiring within a building or civil works to prepare for the change. Our current efforts will ensure that our products will meet the CPR regulations when they are enforced on the 1st July.
